Annual Conference

Our conference date is fast approaching. Your conference brochure and response coupon is included in this mailing. Because this is a licensure renewal year, reserved seats are expected to fill up quickly. Members are receiving the information before nonmembers, to give them the opportunity to sign up first. Molly has put together a great day of workshops, so register as soon as possible. Our thanks go out to Cori Calvert for producing this year’s brochure.

RA Update

The 84th Annual AOTA Conference & Expo scheduled for May in Minneapolis is fast approaching. The RA will be meeting a few days prior to the beginning of conference to discuss motions, resolutions and receive updates. Motions and/or resolutions are found in the OT Practice March 8 2004 issue and posted on AOTA's Web site. I want to be able to share the voice of the Delaware constituents; you are an important member of the AOTA team and you can influence the profession by making your opinion known.

This may be done in several ways:

  1. Attend one of the RA meetings in April – read on for details
  2. Mail me your feedback form at
    Jody Tate
    404 South Bancroft Pkwy.
    Wilmington, DE 19805
  3. E-mail me at ericnjody@netzero.net with your comments.

Continuing Education

The provider education project, titled “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Diagnosis & Management,” is a collaborative effort of The CFIDS Association of America and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is designed to teach health care providers how to better recognize and manage CFS.

As of November 22, self-study courses in three formats are approved for continuing education credits through the CDC, an accredited provider of continuing education for multiple health care disciplines. Print--video- or Web-based modules are available free of charge for health care providers.

AOTA

In response to the critical need to significantly expand the visibility and public understanding of occupational therapy, AOTA has created a new public awareness website with information for the public, members of the profession, potential corporate partners, and consumers of occupational therapy. The site was developed by AOTA’s 501(c)(3) awareness arm, the Fund To Promote Awareness of Occupational Therapy.

With OT Month just around the corner, look for consumer tip sheets, client stories, a link to OT Month products, public opinion research, and information about all of AOTA’s awareness initiatives, including a video about occupational therapy, as you plan awareness activities.
