Q. If I am licensed to practice in Delaware, am I automatically a member of DOTA?
A. No, the State Licensure Board and the Delaware Occupational Therapy Association are two separate organizations.

Q. When does DOTA's membership year begin?
A. You can join anytime and your membership is valid for 12 months from your enrollment date. Your member portal will list your membership period and you will receive a renewal reminder before your membership expires.

Q. Why should I join DOTA?
A. DOTA is the only forum that solely represents the interests of OT practitioners across the state of Delaware.  Our strength lies in the POWER of our numbers.. Your membership enables strong representation for OT in policy, reimbursement issues and topics that impact the provision of high quality care.

Q. When I join DOTA, is AOTA membership included with my DOTA dues, or as a member of AOTA, am I automatically a member of DOTA?
A. Although DOTA is an Affiliate of the American Occupational Therapy Association, each association maintains its own membership processes and benefits. DOTA and AOTA have distinct missions and activities. Participation in both organizations demonstrates your support and commitment to your profession.

Q. What is considered a "Student" membership?
A. Student membership is only for OT and OTA students.  This does NOT include those working on a post-professional OT doctorate.

Q. What percentage of my annual dues are tax deductible?
A. 100% of your membership dues are deductible for income tax purposes as ordinary and necessary business expenses.

Q. What is the difference between DOTA and the state OT Licensure Board?
A. DOTA is a professional membership organization.  Our purpose is to advocate for and represent Delaware-licensed occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants in order to preserve and advance the scope of occupational therapy practice, to ensure access to occupational therapy services, and to create a forum for continuing professional education.

The state OT Licensure Board is organized to regulate and license occupational therapy practitioners in Delaware. Its mission includes protection of the public through activities to ensure high quality care and conduct by occupational therapy practitioners.
