Occupational therapy practitioners work with people throughout the life span, from birth to advanced age. OT can be found in a wide variety of settings. Occupational Therapy uses meaningful activities to improve or restore a person's abilities to complete self-care, work/productive activities, and/or play/leisure activities. The goal of OT in any setting is to increase independent function, enhance development and prevent disability. The term "occupation" refers to activities that are meaningful to the individual and valued within the environments in which the person lives and functions.
