Description

This month, we are releasing the first part of our two-part series. For October, we have a presentation from Dr. Tiana Polite Brown, OTD, MOT, OTR/ L, CLT-LANA titled: “Occupational Therapy and Pelvic Health.”

A brief overview by Dr. Polite Brown:

“Pelvic health is a critical yet often overlooked component of functional participation in daily life. Occupational therapists are ideally positioned to address pelvic health because our profession is grounded in understanding how body systems, routines, environments, and psychosocial factors influence performance.

OTs use a holistic, client-centered lens to evaluate and treat pelvic floor dysfunction that affects bladder, bowel, and sexual function, as well as posture, mobility, and self-care. By integrating pelvic floor rehabilitation with meaningful occupations, we promote improved quality of life, dignity, and independence across the lifespan.”
